Colours. First of all, there are two basic kinds of colours in heraldry: tinctures and ores. Ores are the metal colours; yellow (gold) and white (silver). These are not actually metal paints, as there was no such thing, but rather the colours that were thought to represent the metals. Tinctures are the colours blue, red, purple, green and black.

Any tips on speed painting? Trying to work through a Grey Knights combat patrol but I take about 1 hour or so for a single model. Any way to speed it up? I use this guide and it gets me through my stuff pretty quickly. I do my mine in 5 model batches and it seems to work well enough.

I painted my grey knights a bit different. I started with a black primer and used a very light metal color (aluminum airbrush metal from Vallejo). I then applied two coats of equal parts water, nuln oil gloss and guilliman blue (blue glaze). I think the brighter metals have a nice contrast by itself . Also I like the blueish shine.
